SCC and North COE Deliver Keynote at Educating for Careers Conference

In collaboration with the North (Greater Sacramento) COE, the South Central Coast (SCC) COE delivered the keynote presentation to wrap up the Educating for Careers Conference in Sacramento. With over 1,000 K12 administrators, instructors, counselors, and more in attendance, The presentation examined where California’s labor market may be headed over the next 10 years, highlighting past trends and future projections across the state. The presentation emphasized key findings regarding the importance of critical sectors for the state economy, including:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Health
  • Information and Communication Technologies/Digital Media
  • Retail, Hospitality and Tourism
  • State and Local Government
  • Transportation and Logistics

Though future economic downturns may impact employment in these sectors, the presentation suggested preparing students and jobseekers with transferable skills that can be applied to multiple sectors can help them withstand recessions or other labor market shocks.
