San Diego & Imperial Sector Maps Tool

To help regional leaders better understand how industry sectors have evolved over time in California’s Southern Border Region, the San Diego & Imperial Center of Excellence (COE) created a new interactive mapping tool that allows users to explore sector trends by ZIP Code.

Developed in collaboration with the California Employment Development Department’s Labor Market Information Division (EDD-LMID), the San Diego & Imperial Sector Maps tool tracks employment, wage and business data trends across priority sectors that the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office advocates for in its Vision 2030 roadmap. These sectors span a wide range of industries — from health and advanced manufacturing to ICT, biotechnology and public safety.

The tool also incorporates the locations of all community colleges in the region, enabling colleges to develop programs where sectors are most concentrated. Designed for use in grant development, strategic planning and informed decision-making, the COE will incorporate the tool in upcoming training sessions to ensure its effective use.
