The San Diego/Imperial Center of Excellence (COE) has released a new report, Regional Responses: Overcoming Barriers to Apprenticeship Development, revisiting apprenticeship trends the COE identified in 2024. The report tracks how community colleges across the region have grown apprenticeship capacity beyond traditional trades into sectors like Advanced Transportation and Logistics, ICT/Digital Media, and Advanced Manufacturing, while flagging employer engagement as the most persistent barrier to expansion. It also spotlights tools the San Diego & Imperial Regional Consortium has built to help colleges respond, including an Employer Field Guide, a program repository, and a new apprenticeship community of practice.
