LA County Unemployment Dips Below 9%
Los Angeles County’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.9% in November, continuing a downward trend over the year as the economy steadily recovered jobs lost during the pandemic.
November’s unemployment rate is the lowest since March 2020 and roughly half of what it was at its peak. The unemployment rate reached its highest level, 18.8%, in May 2020.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Los Angeles County declined from 9.4% in October to 8.9% in November.
While not yet back to pre-pandemic levels, Los Angeles County has recovered 67% of the 772,400 jobs lost since the peak of the pandemic.
The unemployment rate for December 2021 will be released on January 21, 2022.
