The Los Angeles County Center of Excellence (COE) recently conducted an analysis of top occupations in job postings to identify the most current trends in the 2022 labor market. 

The top 10 occupations with the most online ads in the county are largely concentrated in three main sectors—health; business and entrepreneurship, and retail, hospitality and tourism. 

With more than 7,600 ads, job postings for registered nurses account for a third of all postings, a total of 25,000. Customer service representatives has the second highest number of postings, 704, followed by bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks, 673. 

Other top occupations include secretaries and administrative assistants, retail salespersons, and first-line supervisors of retail sales workers.

The analysis relied on data sourced from the job postings aggregator Burning Glass and examined job ads from January to March. Of the job ads posted by employers in the first three months of 2022, only those with a minimum educational requirement of an associate degree were included in the analysis.
