Far North COE Releases District Profiles Project

The Far North Center of Excellence (COE) has produced seven community college district profiles to assist with collaborative efforts to enhance career education (CE) programs and facilitate alignment with labor market opportunities specific to each community college district.

These profiles examine each district’s current workforce landscape related to “focus occupations”— jobs that have robust employment demand, pay above a living wage threshold, and typically require education or training beyond a high school diploma but less than a bachelor’s degree.

They assess the supply of community college awards that provide necessary training for these occupations to meet labor market demand within the 12 sectors designated by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO).

By comprehensively detailing how each district currently supports students’ careers, local employment demand, and the Far North regional economy through their community college programs’ alignment with each sector’s needs, these profiles can inform future investments by community college districts and support strategies implemented through the Strong Workforce Program (SWP) Regional Plan.
