At the South Central Coast Region’s Vision 2030 Regional Workshop in Santa Barbara, the South Central Coast Center of Excellence (SCC COE) presented data on the high cost of living in the region. Speaking to nearly 100 regional stakeholders, the SCC COE discussed how rising housing costs contribute to the high cost of living, with the median home price in the region ranging from $423,000 in Santa Maria to $1.3 million in Santa Barbara.
To inform regional stakeholders of opportunities for students to enter living wage jobs, the SCC COE also presented data from the South Central Coast Top Jobs and Equity Assessment, highlighting the 37 middle-skill, in-demand jobs that have entry-level wages above the regional hourly living wage of $25.12 for a single adult.
