Labor Market Data 101: An Introductory Webinar Series for Community College Members

The Bay Region Centers of Excellence (COE) is hosting a three-part webinar series to provide a foundational understanding of how labor market data is used and its connection to the programs offered at our community colleges. These webinars are designed for faculty, program chairs, deans, and others interested in labor market data. The series serves as an introduction for individuals who are unfamiliar with labor market data or with codes such as the Taxonomy of Programs (TOP), Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP), and Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes. You can register to attend the webinars live and/or to receive the recordings.

Dates and topics:
February 7, 2025 (10am-11am): How do TOP, CIP, and SOC Codes Connect Programs to Jobs?
February 21, 2025 (10am-11am): How to Calculate a Gap Analysis?
February 28, 2025 (10am-11am): How to Read a Labor Market Information Report?

Our goal is to use labor market data to answer key questions:

  • What types of occupations are our students entering after completing their certificates or degrees?
  • Are our graduates securing jobs related to their fields of study?
  • Are these occupations in demand, and do they offer a living wage?

These training sessions will be  tailored to specific subregions and colleges in the Bay Region. These sessions will provide a deeper exploration of what labor market data and college programs mean for each area.
