Introducing Leila Jamoosian: Bay Region COE’s Research Analyst
We are pleased to announce that Leila Jamoosian has expanded her role with the Bay Region COE. Leila will continue in her role as a Research Analyst, expanding her support for the Bay Region COE while also supporting Cabrillo Community College’s research needs.
Leila has held positions in data analytics across a wide variety of industries. Past roles include business analyst and export/import specialist in the oil and gas industry, data scientist/statistician in a tech startup, and data analyst and statistician in education. Her diverse background equips her with a wealth of knowledge and expertise that greatly benefits the COE team.
Over the past four years, Leila has been instrumental in providing regional labor market research to support program development at the 28 Bay Area colleges. Her work has supported numerous grants and projects, including Perkins/Career Technical Education, the Adult Education Grant, the Integrated Middle School Science project, Basic Skills and Student Outcomes Transformation, and Title V. Her research includes studies on the survival analysis of graduation or transfer rates within three years and enrollment projections using time series analysis.
Leila’s guiding principle is to have a positive impact on the world through the application of science and statistics. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Statistics from Shiraz University and went on to complete her Master of Science in Mathematics Statistics from the same university, with her thesis focusing on the application of parametric bootstrap in ANOVA and MANOVA. In 2016, Leila earned her M.Sc. in Biostatistics from California State University, East Bay.
In addition to her professional duties, Leila volunteers with DataKind as a data ambassador, most recently working on an economic empowerment project in Kenya that utilized data science and interactive mapping to support youth job seekers. Leila enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, human history, and nature. She is also passionate about plants and gardening.
